Week 115: Picky bits
My attention this week continued to be scattered, picking up bits of work across a few different strands.
In brief:
- writing up previous work on the getting a test sketch
- exploring more options for enhancing HPV test result pages in the app
- early planning for an event I’m proposing for next year
- working on the prototype kit, bringing some features of the app prototype kit into the main one so that the two can be merged
- adding styles for lists and forms to the iOS design system - these will likely be the foundation of the more detailed screens in the app
- making a first contribution to the Android design system - I started small, setting up the corner radiuses
- thinking about appointments in the app and how we might let users have more control over them, adding missing ones or adding notes - this idea has some skeptics but I’m keen to explore it
- taking part in a ‘deep dive’ into our team with the prevention services leadership team – a chance for us to show them what we’re all about

- Testing changes to the NTDD batching screen in BS Select from the BS Select team is a good reminder that removing a seemingly redundant checkbox or radio button can have knock-on effects on how people work
- Redesigning the service landing page to improve conversion from the NHS Health Check online team explains how moving away from plain text and standard components to a more visual, story-led page increased click-through
- Improving the medicines record experience in the NHS App from the NHS App prescriptions and medicines team runs through a set of small, low-risk changes, such as swapping ‘acute’ for ‘one-off’ and removing non-clickable white cards
Off to Liverpool this weekend. Planning to do some early Christmas shopping!
